Supporting your organisation to achieve its aims
A guide to services from Community Works
Community Works is a small company dedicated to supporting organisations that work in challenging community and development settings. We work with development NGOs, Aboriginal organisations, government agencies and social enterprises. Our services include:
Do you have ideas for new projects but need capacity to write them up as proposals for the board or for funding agencies?
We can work with you to produce project concepts and outlines.
Training for management committees and boards
We offer half-day and one-day programs to assist Boards to improve their practice, to support team-building and for the induction of new board members.
Supporting management development through tailored coaching can achieve dramatic changes for individuals and teams. Our support is structured but not rigid, flexible but not casual. We concentrate on achieving results.
Many organisations seek better ways for staff to work with client groups or for internal meetings to be more effective. We conduct introductory training programs on facilitation skills and techniques.
Models of practice
Does your work suffer from discontinuity when staff move away or take up new positions?
We help organisations formalise and document their practice. The result is often a model of practice that serves as a guide for existing and new staff.
Evaluations and reviews
Whether for internal learning or to meet the requirements of funding agencies, we carry out high-quality evaluations and reviews in a way that encourages full participation of key staff, clients and partners where required.
Many organisations benefit from research on particular topics, such as the views of clients or the aspirations of communities or partners. We have developed proven approaches to action research and can train staff to do the work themselves.
We are often asked by organisations to update their knowledge by mapping current practice and ideas in a particular sector. A literature review is a good way to achieve this, tailored to your needs.
