Carolina Bermúdez
Carolina Bermúdez Currea
Latin American Representative and Project Leader
Carolina is an anthropologist who has worked with indigenous groups in Colombia and Australia over the last six years, developing skills as a mediator between cultural groups with different logics, needs and interests.
She has extensive fieldwork experience, mostly in the Amazon, and she has coordinated several governmental and non-governmental projects focused on education, cultural strengthening and development of economic alternatives for indigenous groups. This has enhanced her leadership and management abilities while leading multidisciplinary teams.
Carolina has worked in adapting policies and programs to specific cultural contexts by developing and implementing methodologies- as well as monitoring and evaluation strategies- that are culturally appropriate. She has experience in designing and delivering capacity-building workshops related with organisation, human development and knowledge transmission. She has also organised encounters between indigenous leaders and handcrafters to encourage knowledge exchange.
Carolina has extensive experience as a social science researcher, using qualitative methods for data collection and analysis. She has worked as a consultant for the International Labour Organisation (ILO), where she explored the barriers indigenous people face in accessing the labour market in Colombia.
She recently graduated from a Master of Social Policy and her undergraduate degrees are in Anthropology and Philosophy. Her interests are in the interplay between different types of knowledge, logics, and cultures as well as in community-based governance.
